The Harley-Davidson Motor Company Vehicle Operations facility in York is our final assembly plant. Employees at York also perform a variety of manufacturing operations, including fabrication, welding, polishing and painting and produce a wide range of current and replacement parts for all models. Join our team as a Sr. Engineer Advanced Manufacturing.
Job Summary
The Sr. Engineer, Advanced Manufacturing, will play a pivotal role in driving innovation across product development and manufacturing by integrating advanced manufacturing strategies with digital and PLM technologies. This role collaborates cross-functionally to influence design for assembly, develop integrated manufacturing systems, and lead digital manufacturing initiatives, including virtual builds, digital twins, and PLM integration. The position supports the Life Cycle Plan (LCP) from concept to production, ensuring robust, scalable, and efficient manufacturing processes.
Job Responsibilities
Manufacturing Process Development & Implementation
- Lead medium to large-scale projects from concept through capital planning and implementation.
- Influence part design for manufacturability, error proofing, fixture design, torque tool strategy, and quality improvements.
- Conduct “Should Cost Analysis” for tooling and parts.
- Implement Lean Manufacturing principles (5S, Six Sigma, CI systems).
- Perform supplier technical assessments and develop improvement plans.
- Develop mfg. processes and Advanced Product Quality Planning documentation for new products
- Support LCP and innovation initiatives within the Global Advanced Manufacturing organization.
- Collaborate with engineering, IT, operations, quality, and external vendors.
Digital/Virtual Manufacturing & PLM Integration
- Implement virtual manufacturing tools for DFA/DFM, MBOM creation, time studies, line balancing, and ergonomic validation.
- Facilitate virtual builds and deploy digital twin technologies (e.g., 3D Factory, robotic simulation, offline programming).
- Integrate manufacturing processes and resources (tools, fixtures, equipment) into PLM systems.
- Drive BOM transformation (e-BOM to m-BOM) and implement process planning solutions.
Process Standardization, Improvement & Innovation
- Standardize processes for DFA/DFM, virtual builds, process definition, and MBOM using digital/virtual tools.
- Identify and implement opportunities for process optimization through digital technologies.
- Support real-time monitoring, data analytics, and predictive maintenance initiatives.
- Contribute to simulation and digital twin modeling for layout and process optimization.
Education Requirements
Education Specifications
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering is preferred.
Experience Requirements
- Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively within and/ or lead a group or team and provide guidance to other employees.
- Experience in digital manufacturing, PLM systems, and virtual simulation tools.
- Strong project management and change management capabilities.

The pay range shown represents the national average pay range for this role. Your pay may be more or less than the stated range and is dependent on your geographic location and level of experience.
