Our Powertrain Operations facility, located on Pilgrim Road in Menomonee Falls, WI, is where the “jewel” of the motorcycle comes to life. Pilgrim Road employees produce engines and transmissions for the final assembly plant in York, Pennsylvania, as well as transmissions, and replacement parts for sale through Harley-Davidson® Genuine Motor Parts and Accessories business. Job Summary

This on-site role in Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin, is a key contributor to the facilities maintenance and operations of Harley-Davidson Motor Company’s Powertrain Operations (PTO) manufacturing site. The Facilities Engineer will oversee service vendors, ensure seamless facility operations, and collaborate with manufacturing teams to maintain critical systems and equipment. Additionally, this role will work closely with Project Management to support and execute various facilities initiatives.

The ideal candidate brings experience in facilities maintenance and operations—preferably within a manufacturing environment—along with strong organizational skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. This position is also responsible for managing PTO’s annual operating budget and reports to Central Facilities Operations, with secondary accountability to PTO Plant Operations.

Job Responsibilities

Facilities Operations & Maintenance:

  • Oversee third-party vendor personnel and services, ensuring accountability and quality performance.
  • Manage work orders and provide oversight for facility-related maintenance and repairs.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on facilities infrastructure, systems, utilities, and equipment, leading troubleshooting efforts.
  • Coordinate and support site assessments with inspectors and regulatory officials.
  • Plan and execute the annual Plant Power Outage.
  • Maintain and oversee the PTO Facilities annual operating budget, working closely with Corporate Facilities, Finance, and PTO leadership.
  • Participate in regular Safety Observation Tours in collaboration with PTO Safety and Leadership.

Project Management & Collaboration:

  • Support site layout planning and updates, including CAD drafting.
  • Work closely with PTO Plant leadership, manufacturing, operations, logistics, and maintenance teams to align facilities operations with production needs.
  • Assist Central Facilities Projects with capital equipment budget forecasting and planning.
  • Manage select projects from initiation to completion, ensuring facilities requirements and asset identification are properly validated.

Compliance & Continuous Improvement:

  • Develop proficiency in Harley-Davidson’s operational, safety, security, procurement, financial, IT, and cross-functional processes related to Facilities operations.
  • Drive continuous improvement efforts in facilities maintenance, operational efficiency, and vendor management.
  • Handle general facilities maintenance, operations, and project tasks as needed.

Education Requirements

High School Diploma or Equivalent Required

Education Specifications

Preference for individual with Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Facilities Management, Facilities or Architectural Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or Project Management, or a similar field of study. 

Experience Requirements

Required

  • Minimum of 5 years of Facilities or General Construction Project Management and/or Facilities Management experience.
  • Strong preference for experience with critical systems within an industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Data Analytics – developing, tracking, and analyzing Key Performance Metrics for Facilities Service Delivery.
  • Experience with financial management, including annual or multi-year accounting and financial tracking, OpEx and CapEx budgeting and forecasting.
  • Experience with management agreements and construction contract language.
  • AutoCAD drafting experience. 
  • Be available off-hours, weekends, and holidays as needed to oversee critical projects or urgent facility incidents.
  • Limited travel is expected within the greater Milwaukee area.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

  • Certified Plant Engineer (CPE) through the Association of Facilities Engineering, Project Management Professional (PMP), International Facilities Management Association (IFMA), Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) industry certifications preferred; other related building engineering, business or technical training or certifications preferred.
  • Strong with Microsoft Office Suite (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project).

The pay range shown represents the national average pay range for this role. Your pay may be more or less than the stated range and is dependent on your geographic location and level of experience.
