Our Arizona Proving Ground (APG) location is home to all product testing. Test miles are supported by Test Riders, Mechanics, Engineers, Coordinators, Technical Specialists and Administrative personnel. APG provides motorcycle testing services related to motorcycle development, performance, validation and certification.

Job Summary

Demonstrates in depth conceptual and practical knowledge in vehicle measurements and data acquisition in support of product and systems engineering, advanced innovation, long term technology development and quality initiatives within Product Development Engineering. Coordinates and executes various regulatory testing that enables Harley-Davidson Motor Company to support the world-wide availability of its products.

Job Responsibilities

  • Solves complex problems involving test criteria, test standards, application of test methods and analysis of test results and enacts a new perspective on existing solutions.
  • Compiles complex test data using analysis, identifying possible solutions using technical experience and judgment with a moderate level of guidance, tracks test processes and reports accurate test results to engineering in a timely manner.
  • Works independently with minimal guidance in development of new techniques, development of tests and processes in executing meaningful technical tests on motorcycles and their components in a laboratory or proving ground.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively within and / or lead a group or team providing guidance to engineers, technical specialists, mechanics and riders.
  • Independently and successfully develops new (component, system, or vehicle) test methods to evaluate new failure modes or a new component/system and applies during project execution.
  • Provides high quality test data through detailed understanding of transducer designs, calibration, limitations, and their appropriate usage.
  • Demonstrates ability to correlate test results between field, track, road or laboratory with a goal of shortening test times.
  • Applies and communicates difficult or sensitive information such as statistical analysis and Root Cause Analysis (e.g. Cause Map, Fishbone, etc.) and builds relationships with engineers and technical staff within own and across departments.

  • This position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or other related technical Degree or PE license.

Experience Requirements

Required

  • Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a group and / or team and provide guidance to other employees.

The pay range shown represents the national average pay range for this role. Your pay may be more or less than the stated range and is dependent on your geographic location and level of experience.
