The Harley-Davidson Motor Company Vehicle Operations facility in York is our final assembly plant. Employees at York also perform a variety of manufacturing operations, including fabrication, welding, polishing and painting and produce a wide range of current and replacement parts for all models. Join our team as a Material Quality Lead, Nonconforming Materials - 1st Shift.

 

 

Job Summary


This position will review non-conforming materials, analyze suspect conditions by comparing against the engineering drawings, utilize quality tools, manage inventory levels daily, and perform systematic transactions in SAP. Team members need to create QI in SAP and then create RPO in SAP. The individual must communicate with suppliers when non-conformance is identified, using Outlook, photos, and the processing from SAP, along with the specs from Windchill. After communication with suppliers, the SAP processing must be completed, and the email correspondence updated.

 

Job Responsibilities 

  • Duties will include a blend of hands-on activities and computer-based transactions to process properly and close non-conformance records
  • Review material/parts and identify any non-conforming materials, as well as perform all associated functions via SAP
  • Walking between different buildings, occasionally transporting or pushing items on carts
  • Adheres to all Standard Work practices
  • Training team members, helping develop standard work, and training team members to do standard work
  • Adheres to all safety policies
  • Ensure all team members' NCM metric inputs are being met
  • Manages inventories and stock, including keeping detailed records of inventory use and advising the supervisor when ordering is necessary
  • Generates and shares comprehensive and detailed reports
  • Ensures that physical working spaces meet and exceed company presentation standards (5s practices)
  • Provides quality customer service, including interacting with suppliers, answering supplier enquiries, and effectively handling escalations
  • Performs all NCM inventory audits and records results
  • Perform various job responsibilities and fill in for open positions
  • Perform routine and customary material handling associated with the job
  • Prepare and submit the necessary time, quantity, and other records pertaining to the job.
  • The employee must be able to classify and measure cosmetic imperfections by utilizing the Harley-Davidson standards
  • Inspect and evaluate parts, components, and assemblies using inspection equipment such as gages and cos cards
  • Perform duties assigned by the supervisor. 

 

Education Requirments 

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent Required

 

Experience Requirments

Required

  • 2-year-plus SAP (or relative ERP systems) experience
  • Day shift is Monday through Thursday from 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM, 1st shift 
  • Overtime opportunities and shift extensions are available, some being mandatory
  • Mandatory cross-shift meeting on Tuesday, starting at 5:40 am - all team members are required to attend the meeting
  • The ability to explain non-conforming defects 
  • Have the ability to lift components weighing up to 25 pounds as needed. This includes the ability to bend and retrieve parts from approximately 6 inches above the ground and raise them to eye level for storage
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suites (Word, Outlook, Excel, Teams)
  • Strong oral and written communication skills

Preferred

  • Quality, Logistics, inventory management, and inventory control experience
  • Reading engineering prints is a plus
  • Fieldglass exp preferred

The pay range shown represents the national average pay range for this role. Your pay may be more or less than the stated range and is dependent on your geographic location and level of experience.
