The Harley-Davidson Motor Company Product Development Center (PDC) located in Wauwatosa, WI is home to the mantra – You dream it. We build it. Join our team as a  Test Engineer.

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated Test Engineer to support the planning and execution of meaningful testing that validates designs, verifies analysis methods, and evaluates failure modes. In this role, you will collaborate across teams and levels within Product Development Engineering to advance systems engineering, testing, and quality initiatives.

Job Responsibilities

  • Execute technical tests on motorcycles and components using established procedures and practices in laboratory and proving ground environments.
  • Analyze, compile, and report test results to engineering teams with guidance from senior staff.
  • Improve testing processes and reduce product development time through effective communication, problem solving, and progress reporting.
  • Deliver high-quality test data through strong understanding of transducer design, limitations, calibration, and usage.
  • Independently apply instrumentation tools and techniques to support test activities.
  • Develop skills in fatigue, vibration, and thermal analysis.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to execute component verification/validation methods and analyze results.
  • Innovate new test techniques and enhance existing processes to improve data collection efficiency and accelerate development cycles.
  • Provide guidance on data acquisition systems and methodologies to engineers and technicians.
  • Design and fabricate custom transducers to support complex data acquisition and testing needs.
  • Troubleshoot technical challenges using structured problem-solving methods and coordinate support across engineering and test teams.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's Degree Required

Education Specifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a related engineering discipline is required.

Experience Requirements

  • Typically requires 3 years of experience in a related engineering field.
  • Proficiency with test, evaluation, and analysis tools such as fatigue, vibration, data acquisition systems, transducers, and reliability testing.
  • Understanding of servo-hydraulic or electro-dynamic control systems used for replicating vehicle structural inputs and responses.
  • Experience analyzing time-history data for time or frequency domain replication.
  • Familiarity with systems such as MTS, Unholtz-Dickie, nCode, eDAQ, and Dewetron (preferred).
  • Ability to communicate complex technical topics clearly to technicians, engineers, managers, and hourly employees.

The pay range shown represents the national average pay range for this role. Your pay may be more or less than the stated range and is dependent on your geographic location and level of experience.
