The Harley-Davidson Motor Company Vehicle Operations facility in York is our final assembly plant. Employees at York also perform a variety of manufacturing operations, including fabrication, welding, polishing and painting and produce a wide range of current and replacement parts for all models. Join our team as a Nonconforming Materials Specialist, York Vehicle Operations-1st shift.
Job Summary
This position will review non-conforming materials, analyze suspect conditions by comparing against the engineering drawings, utilize quality tools, manage inventory levels daily, and perform systematic transactions in SAP. Team members need to create QI in SAP, then create RPO in SAP. Individuals must communicate with suppliers when non-conformance is identified, using Outlook, photos, and the processing from SAP, along with the specs from Windchill. After communication with suppliers, the SAP processing must be completed, and the email correspondence updated.
Job Responsibilities
- Duties will include a blend of hands-on activities and computer-based transactions to properly process and close non-conformance records.
- Review material/parts and identify any non-conforming materials, as well as perform all associated functions via SAP
- Preform various job responsibilities and fill in for open positions.
- Classify and measure cosmetic imperfections by utilizing the Harley-Davidson standards and communicate in written form.
- Adheres to all Standard Work practices
- Prepare dispute reports and host the dispute meetings, then process the dispute lists, and communicate by email.
- Process all scrap QI (Code 2, Code 3, Code 8)
- Generate BOM for subassemblies included in the shipments to DPW.
- Assist the YVO NCM team as needed in SAP.
- Adheres to all safety policies
- Ensures and physical working spaces meet and exceed company presentation standards (5s practices)
- Communicate with the entire H-D SQNCM team regarding trailers, issues and updates.
- Process RMA for the in-house suppliers at YVO (EVO, and Worthington Steel, ECT.)
- Report to YVO, unless otherwise instructed by supervisor, and when there is no work available at YVO, report to supervisor directly to get assignment.
- Perform duties assigned by supervisor or team lead
Education Requirments
- High School Diploma or Equivalent Required
Experince Requirments
Required
- 3-6 months SAP (or relative ERP systems) experience
- Day shift is Monday through Thursday from 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM
- Night shift is Monday through Thursday 7:30 PM to 6:00 AM
- 10-hour days, 4 days per week
- Overtime opportunities and shift extensions are available, some being required
- Mandatory cross-shift meeting on Tuesday starting at 5:40am - all team members are required to attend the meeting
- Proficient in Microsoft Suites (Word, Outlook, Excel) required
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- The ability to explain non-conforming defects in person and via email.

- Must be able to lift components weighing up to 25 pounds when required. They will need to bend down and retrieve parts from 6 inches above the ground, then raise them to eye level for storage. The job responsibilities involve walking between different buildings, occasionally transporting or pushing items on carts.
Preferred
- Previous quality experience is preferred
- Logistics, inventory management, and inventory control experience are preferred
- Reading engineering prints is a plus
