The Harley-Davidson Motor Company Vehicle Operations facility in York is our final assembly plant. Employees at York also perform a variety of manufacturing operations, including fabrication, welding, polishing and painting and produce a wide range of current and replacement parts for all models. Join our team as a Health Services Generalist.

Job Summary

This position will administer and manage the Health Services activities including daily operations at a designated Harley-Davidson facility and/or facilities ensuring that policies, procedures, medical directives are established and followed. The incumbent will provide an operational view to Health Services. This position will be a professional and technical resource to Human Resources, Work Groups, and Plant Leadership for the implementation, administration and continued improvement of all the Health Services policies, procedures and processes, along with providing leadership oversight to the respective Lifestyle Center(s).

Job Responsibilities

  • Leadership: Develop effective, collaborative relationships across the organization with site leadership, Union, Health Services, Safety, Risk Management, Claims Adjusters/Examiners, Benefits, Legal and Human Resources.
  • Continuous Improvement: Develop and participate in audit process of the Health Service organization, including the Lifestyle Center, and the systems in place to identify gaps and create recommendations for corrective actions; Develop and implement corrective actions to identified opportunities; Provide primary care oversight in evaluating and treating all employees for both work related and non-work related injuries/illness with referral to appropriate health care providers; Medically manage Workers' Compensation / Short Term Disability / Family Medical Leave Act / Long Term Disability cases promoting and encouraging early injury intervention and return to work; Manage the light duty and Return To Work program utilizing the essential job functions to assist with proper placement; Evaluate and refer claims to the Case Managers (onsite and offsite) as appropriate.
  • Communication: Execute a communication plan that is targeted to raise awareness and reinforce existing health and lifestyle/wellness policies, processes and procedures; Demonstrate knowledge of occupational health and wellness, industrial hygiene, ergonomics and related regulatory and educational systems and communicate that knowledge in away that gains support from affected stakeholders; Develop and track metrics to measure the trends of absenteeism and leaves, Lifecenter utilization, and other measures as identified utilizing the reports/graphs from the electronic Medical Management System. Liaise with Harley-Davidson, the employee, Third Party Administrator and health care providers, as appropriate, to ensure appropriate care; Ensure that the OSHA 300 logs are correct and up to date.
  • Health and Lifestyle/Wellness: Support managing the proactive and reactive ends of the disability spectrum understanding that most injuries and illnesses can be preventable; Provide assistance and support to the health services and Lifestyle Center staff while partnering with safety and ergonomics in the development of standards and solutions for occupational injuries and illness prevention; Promote lifestyle/wellness programs & activities including lifestyle/wellness coaching in an effort to decrease lifestyle related injuries/illnesses.
  • Occupational Health and Environmental: Work directly with Safety to ensure that the appropriate Medical Surveillance programs are administered per regulatory guidelines and maintained as determined by the facilities needs; Ensure that all employees that fall into the OSHA mandated programs are included in the testing; Provide support to existing safety-related policies, programs and procedures and identify opportunities, along with recommendations for technical and behavioral improvement; Provide technical medical support to all stakeholders including, but not limited to incident investigations, ergonomic assessments, interpretation of Occupational Health regulations and the application of medical policy, process and procedures.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's Degree Preferred

Experience Requirements

Required

  • Typically requires a minimum of 3 years of related experience.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA, Worker’s Compensation law, FMLA, ADAAA.
  • CPR certified.
  • Strong verbal and written communication and computer literacy.
  • Proactive problem solver able to work independently with flexibility and demonstrates the ability to maintain credibility and confidentiality.
  • Occasional overnight travel and work on 2nd or 3rd shifts required.

Preferred

  • Industrial health experience preferred.
  • Experience in a Union Workforce preferred.
