The Harley-Davidson Motor Company Product Development Center (PDC) located in Wauwatosa, WI is home to the mantra – You dream it. We build it. Join our team as a Systems Engineer - Performance Development - Hybrid.
Job Summary
This Engineering position will be held accountable for delivering base engine calibrations and models of engine performance and emissions response to calibration inputs. In addition, the System Engineer will be responsible for further developing methods and tools used for the optimization of engine performance and emissions. Domestic travel may be required through the life of the projects that this role supports.
Job Responsibilities
- Performs dyno-based engine calibration and testing to support powertrain development initiatives.
- Develops and enhances methods and tools to optimize engine performance and reduce emissions.
- Leverages data analysis tools to extract insights from large data sets and presents results to others.
- Collaborates with cross-functional teams to integrate calibration strategies into engine development programs.
- Effectively communicates complex information to others to ensure understanding and to gain team support and stakeholder buy-in.
- Demonstrates the ability to work with individuals at all levels in the organization.
Education Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree Required in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or other related technical Degree.
Experience Requirements
- Typically requires a minimum of 3 years of powertrain development engineering experience.
- Experience with dyno testing and engine calibration.
- Understanding of the fundamentals of engine thermodynamics, calibration for performance, fuel economy and emissions, and general powertrain development.
- Experience with data analysis and modeling.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate technical subjects in a clear concise manner to a range of audiences throughout the organization.
Preference given to candidates with these additional skills:
- Proficiency in developing automation to speed data handling and other aspects of the work.
- Experience with powertrain control system development.
- Experience with 1-D engine thermodynamic simulation.
- Proficient with MATLAB, ATI Vision Scripting, Microsoft VBA, AVL Concerto Scripting, or experience with other tools used for handling large data sets.

The pay range shown represents the national average pay range for this role. Your pay may be more or less than the stated range and is dependent on your geographic location and level of experience.
