Job Summary

Harley-Davidson is on a mission to revolutionize the Motorcycle Industry and is thrilled to add you to the top Engineering talent in our Product Development Center located at Wauwatosa, WI. Your focus will be software development of embedded systems supporting infotainment and connectivity of Electric and ICE vehicles. We are looking for a Staff Software Engineer to join our experienced & passionate team developing next generation components for H-D’s portfolio.

Job Responsibilities

In this position you will:

  • Be an integral part of the Advanced Engineering Team developing next-generation infotainment, connectivity and software solutions, working closely with other H-D Product Development teams driving cutting edge ideas and rapid innovation to commercialization.
  • Evaluate and lead the design and implementation of future technologies, provide technical guidance on feasibility, and develop hardware/software prototypes using the latest technology advancements.
  • Bring creative out-of-the-box thinking for vehicle infotainment, connectivity and safety features.
  • Develop code in C, C++, or other programming languages in a pre-production environment.  Produce high quality code, lead code reviews, bug triage and build & release processes on H-D’s Connected/Embedded platforms.
  • Help establish a consistent mindset that’s relentlessly focused on the highest value work. Lead and reinforce application of best practices to streamline the product development process and deliver world-class engineering to efficiently, effectively lead the industry.
  • Leverage H-D’s extensive product development assets including test labs, proving grounds and expert product development capabilities to deliver best-in-class performance, usability and quality.

Education Specifications

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering is required. A bachelor’s and/or master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field is preferred.

Experience Requirements

We're looking for someone with a minimum of 8 yrs. experience.  In addition, the qualified candidate will have demonstrated the following:

  • Deep applied understanding of and passion for software life cycle, agile best practices, and technology.
  • Experience developing embedded applications on microcontroller platforms and/or embedded Linux devices.  Experience with ARM processors is a plus. 
  • Must be comfortable with configuring, debugging, and administrating embedded Linux-based systems.
  • Excellent coding skills with C, C++ on embedded controllers. Strong knowledge of compilers, debuggers, and other embedded software development tools.
  • Excellent software design and coding skills and a working knowledge of software quality principles, including unit testing and code coverage analysis.
  • Experience in agile collaboration models (e.g. Scrum/Kanban).
  • Experience leading software teams or engineering teams
  • Experience in project planning, scheduling, and resource management is a plus
  • Experience in technical vendor management and track record of delivering software projects within budget
  • Comfortable mentoring teams across H-D (embedded, mobile, web engineers, work cross-functionally with IT

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience developing automotive infotainment or connected vehicle software/products.
  • Experience with iOS/Android app development is a plus
  • Working knowledge of communication interfaces such as CAN, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth etc. and Network Management.
  • Working experience in developing and debugging Linux firmware images and implementing SecureBoot.
  • Experience with Qt, QML, Qt Automotive.
  • Experience using third party tools such as Vector CANalyzer, MATLAB/Simulink, etc.
  • Electrical Hardware Design Experience (Displays, Controls, CAN Bus).
