Job Summary

 

In this position, you will work as part of the the architecture team to develop and deliver the electrical architecture design and functional integration that delivers cross program level requirements and regulatory compliance. You will be the software architecture expert on the team and will be responsible for working with the software development team to ensure that function allocation enables targeted control system performance, and that future functionality is enabled through the architecture choices. You will work with an experienced cross-functional engineering team to own electrical system scope, design, and development. And you will look beyond just the immediate project scope and requirements to guarantee that it aligns with future technology trends and partner with advanced engineering team to prepare roadmaps to deliver new features and functions.  Specific deliverables include:
 

Job Responsibilities

 

  • Develop next-generation electrical system and component requirements through collaboration with key stakeholders, product benchmarking, and input from industry standards.
  • Decompose vehicle-level requirements and use-cases into electrical system-level and component-level requirements.
  • Ensure allocation of software functions across electrical modules enables optimal control system performance and meets software architecture design needs
  • Lead physical and virtual design reviews to confirm confidence in designs prior to program milestones.
  • Support the Reliability & Validation Engineer to ensure systematic verification of vehicle electrical systems by establishing requirements traceability, developing test-cases, and ensuring test coverage across applicable test methods.
  • Develop software verification plans to ensure features are intuitive and robust at vehicle launch.
  • Resolve technical issues by applying problem-solving techniques and facilitating cross-functional support from the Engineering and Test Organizations.
  • Support vehicle-level system integration activities, regulatory homologation events, pre-production vehicle builds, and vehicle launch builds.

This position requires a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.

Experience Requirements

 

The successful candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of relevant design engineering experience in a related field.  In addition, they will have demonstrated the following:

  • Ability to lead and influence cross-functional team members without direct authority.
  • Knowledge of whole-vehicle systems with detailed electrical system/component design & integration experience.
  • Knowledge of software structure, embedded software design elements, ECU communication protocols, and hardware-software interfaces.
  • Proven technical knowledge and design experience of existing vehicle technologies as well as awareness of future vehicle technologies, with an ability to inform future vehicle designs.
  • Creative approach to solving problems and capable to collect, analyze, and interpret data. 
  • Electrical System Design/development experience from concept through production launch. 
  • Experience with systems or components such as infotainment, ADAS, ICE engines, body controls, etc.
  • Experience authoring requirements, developing test-cases, and establishing traceability.
  • Experience developing artifacts that support product development in accordance with a functional safety process, ISO26262 preferred.  Example work products include Item Definitions, HARAs, and Functional Safety Requirements.
  • Experience with Quality Engineering deliverables, including DFMEAs and Design Validation Plans and Test Reports.
  • Ability to work beyond Electrical Engineering and apply basic electro-mechanical engineering skills/experience.
  • Success in directly or indirectly leading a team or supplier to meet aggressive quality and performance objectives.
  • Strong interest (direct experience desired) in motor vehicle engineering and design (auto, motorcycle, truck & bus, agriculture, etc.)
  • Ability to communicate technical subjects in a clear, concise manner to multiple levels of the organization.  
  • Ability to work with diverse global teams both internally and externally (suppliers).

The pay range shown represents the national average pay range for this role. Your pay may be more or less than the stated range and is dependent on your geographic location and level of experience.
