Job Summary

The Powertrain Performance Engineer - Noise plays a key role in shaping the iconic Harley‑Davidson sound and driving innovation in intake and exhaust system development. The position is responsible for analytical and test data evaluation of system performance and for ensuring compliance with global regulatory noise standards through structured testing and documentation. This role also supports the technical design, analysis, and evaluation of components that directly influence vehicle performance, character, and brand identity.

Job Responsibilities

  • Solve complex engineering challenges using both creative problem‑solving and rigorous analytical methods; operate independently with minimal guidance except on the most complex issues.
  • Demonstrates in-depth conceptual and practical knowledge in engineering tools such as Computer-Aided Design (CAD, Creo + Windchill), predictive analysis, and noise data analysis to demonstrate and communicate design robustness.
  • Conduct regulatory noise compliance testing, interpret results, and ensure designs meet all applicable global noise regulations.
  • Ability to work independently and perform Design Failure Modes & Effects Analysis (DFMEAs), Design Verification Plan & Reports (DVP&Rs), analyze test results and bring closure to test findings.
  • Support ongoing engineering activities, objectives, and may lead projects or major steps within broader programs.

Bachelor's Degree Required

Education Specifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or a related technical field required.
  • Master of Science in a technical field preferred.

Experience Requirements

  • Typically requires 3 years of related engineering experience.
  • Demonstrated expertise in noise control, noise measurement, acoustic development, and regulatory noise compliance testing.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience interpreting complex data sets, conducting root‑cause analysis, and making data‑driven design decisions.
  • Experience in powertrain development and/or component design.
  • Familiarity with tools such as Siemens TestLab, Müller‑BBM PAK, ACTRAN, GT‑Suite, or comparable analysis platforms.

 

The pay range shown represents the national average pay range for this role. Your pay may be more or less than the stated range and is dependent on your geographic location and level of experience.
