We are seeking a Powertrain Manufacturing Engineer to develop new and innovative manufacturing capabilities for battery systems, electric motors, and power electronics. Embedded in the powertrain team, you will help to identify innovative design opportunities and develop new manufacturing techniques and processes to enable them. You will help drive manufacturing strategy, process and quality controls, and make/buy decisions. You will act as an internal consultant, ensuring the voice of manufacturing is integrated into the design process.
 

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop innovative manufacturing technology across powertrain systems.
  • Inform powertrain design and ensure intelligent risk-taking.
  • Specify new manufacturing equipment and interface to suppliers.
  • Support manufacturing strategy and insource / outsource and automation decisions.
  • Work with manufacturing partners to ensure successful adoption of new techniques.
  • Create PFMEAs, test and quality requirements, DOEs and process capability studies.
  • Develop process flows and work instructions, maximizing safety and quality.
  • Support prototyping, development builds and NPI.
     

Education Specifications

  • Bachelor's Degree Required
  • BS or MS Engineering Preferred

Experience Requirements

  • BS or MS Engineering +8 years' experience in volume manufacturing of electrical systems.
  • Track record of initiative and success in deploying new manufacturing techniques.
  • Broad knowledge of the state of the art in automation, sensors, process, fab and integration.
  • Strong understanding of automotive manufacturing needs and quality expectations.
  • Direct experience maturing welding and/or adhesive process steps.
