We are open to someone working remotely (state dependent) for this role. At times, this role will require up to 50% travel. The ideal candidate would have access to a major airport for US and International travel.

Job Summary

The Director of Supply Base Transformation has responsibility and accountability for the Harley-Davidson Supply Management supply base road mapping, targeted cost improvements and global strategic supply chain objectives. This position reports to the Vice President, Supply Management.

Job Responsibilities

•    Leads transformation road mapping and planning to support global strategic supply chain objectives
•    Partners with business supply chain, operations and finance leaders to determine business imperatives and supply chain responses
•    Leads and supports major global supply chain program transformation efforts
•    Drives end to end supply chain capability improvement programs
•    Leads, executes and coordinates the Global Supply Chain Transformation process
•    Supports functional supply chain leaders to develop functional strategies, capability standards and priorities
•    Bring structure, frameworks and rigor to developing and communicating commodity strategies
•    Deep and cross-functional end to end supply chain capability, process, and leading practice knowledge
•    Breadth of knowledge including supply chain design, customer requirements, key supply chain capabilities, and differentiated business requirements.
•    Create and implement best practices based on global industry standards
•    The role provides direct leadership of teams across the United States, India, Thailand, China, and Mexico 
•    This role acts as a role model in mentoring and developing future leaders to support our fast paced, domestic and global trajectory

Bachelor's Degree Required

Experience Requirements

  • 12-15+ years of experience in the automotive (or related) industry, in global multi-plant manufacturing environments, with program management leadership responsibilities
  • Minimum of 5 years of management experience 
  • Technical

o    Strong financial and cost management skillset

o    Familiarity with SAP systems 

o    Demonstrated experience in leading the transformational move from high-cost country to low-cost country supply base

o    Demonstrated experience in identifying, vetting, an establishing new low-cost country supply bases across multiple continents 

o    Ability to establish and lead international supply and procurement teams across multiple continents, particularly in Asia and Latin America 

o    Solid breadth of global planning, sourcing, manufacturing and transportation supply chain experience required

o    Lean Six Sigma preferred

  • Leadership 

o    Possesses executive presence and ability to coommunicate to and build consensus among senior leadership

o    Ability to be a visionary thinker and strong leader, including motivating and inspiring employees, putting a focus on development of people and teams, influencing others and leading consensus decision making, and delivering through strong and effective communications skills at all levels of the organization and external to the company.
