Position

 

The Sales Manager - Parts and Accessories (P&A) ) is responsible for ensuring growth and achieving annual P&A and Apparel & Licensing (A&L) sales targets through our Canadian Harley-Davidson dealer network. As a subject matter expert for P&A and A&L channels, this individual will work with the existing Field Sales Managers (FSMs) across Canada to evaluate dealer performance, determine opportunities for improvement, and generate action plans to increase sales in P&A and A&L.

The successful incumbent will become highly knowledgeable about Harley-Davidson’s genuine P&A and A&L products and our competitors, and is capable of advising dealership management and staff on maximizing business and market opportunities. This role will work remotely and will report to the National Sales Manager.

Job Responsibilities

 

  • Effectively share their subject matter expertise on P&A and A&L product knowledge, inventory management, merchandising, pricing/markdown strategies, process improvements, staffing etc.
  • Be Harley-Davidson Canada’s Subject Matter Expert on personalization and customization of new and used motorcycles and use this expertise to influence dealer actions.
  • Develop strategic plans for the field team and dealers and support the implementation of these plans (i.e., pre-accessorization and utilization of digital selling tools etc.).
  • In cooperation with the Field Sales Managers, support the development of dealer-specific action plans and regular follow-up intended to deliver annual P&A and A&L goals.
  • Develop and distribute tools/reports that drive improved dealer performance. Must be able to create and automate reports using data from multiple sources.
  • Measure and monitor – create regional, district and dealer KPI dashboards.
  • Actively monitor the volume of Unique Customers (VINs) going through service and develop actions/recommendations to increase the volume year over year (customer retention).
  • Be the link between the US teams (already developing actions around the VINs through service initiatives) and proactively adapt them to the Canadian market.
  • Coordinate with the Product Sales team and Field Sales Managers to develop and deliver value-added promotions/content direct to dealers (mostly virtual-based webinars, select dealer group meetings, etc.).
  • Monitor and evaluate dealer P&A staff training participation and influence dealerships on the value of highly trained and knowledgeable staff.
  • Leverage the Harley-Davidson Custom Coverage and Collaborative Inventory Management programs.  
  • Support omnichannel integration and adoption of in-dealership In-Store Ordering Solutions.

Job Requirements

  • Typically requires a minimum of 5+ years of related experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, High School Graduation Diploma minimum.
  • Experience within a vehicle dealership or original equipment manufacturing (OEM) service/parts operation.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills. Proficiency in delivering effective presentations to motivate dealers to take action. 
  • Proficiency in both English and French is highly preferable.
  • Ability to ride (preferred) or desire and willingness to learn to ride. Ability to operate and evaluate company / competitive products.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours as required by the needs of the dealers.
  • Travel (~25%) is required for this position.
  • Very adept at leveraging technology to be highly effective interacting virtually with dealers.
  • Fully proficient in Microsoft Office: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and MS Teams. Must be able to create/automate reports and tools to support the business.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence without direct authority.
  • Ability to determine urgency and act upon it in a meaningful and practical way.
  • Highly self-motivated and directed, with an ability to operate effectively with minimum supervision.
