Job Summary

The Marketing Manager is responsible for building the next generation of Harley‑Davidson riders in Japan, supporting sales, market share, and customer acquisition goals. The role leads brand health and the planning and execution of strategic and tactical marketing across motorcycles, parts & accessories and merchandise, including digital, social, PR, and events. This role works closely with cross‑functional stakeholders and communicates effectively at all levels to drive results. Reporting to the APAC Marketing Director, the Marketing Manager leads the Japan marketing team and partners closely with the Japan Managing Director and commercial team to deliver business performance in Japan.

Job Responsibilities

Key Deliverables

Marketing Programs and Promotions

  • Lead and develop a two‑person marketing team.
  • Plan and deliver product launches and integrated campaigns that build demand, grow market share, and are measured against clear KPIs and ROI.
  • Strengthen brand health by leading marketing strategy development for the Japan market and translating it into effective execution.
  • Oversee development of retail marketing materials and dealer support tools, including dealer communications.
  • Manage dealer marketing initiatives, including lead management.
  • Collaborate closely with global and regional teams to align corporate objectives with local market needs.
  • Lead and manage agency partners, ensuring strong performance and business impact.
  • Oversee marketing projects, research, budgets, and approval processes with internal and external stakeholders.

Harley Owners Group (H.O.G.)

  • Oversee H.O.G. activities with a focus on growing and diversifying membership.
  • Lead the development of processes and resourcing plans to support future H.O.G. growth.

Events

  • Lead the planning and execution of an integrated event strategy, including shows, exhibitions, dealer demos, rallies, and H.O.G. events.
  • Oversee end‑to‑end event coordination (sites, promotion, media, registration, and programming) and drive continuous improvement through post‑event review.

Rider Services

  • Lead Rider Services initiatives, including rider training, rentals, and touring programs, to support rider entry and engagement.

Project Management and Coordination

  • Plan, track, and deliver key marketing and rider initiatives, using clear project plans and progress tracking to ensure on time delivery.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's Degree Required

Education Specifications

  • Mandatory degree: Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Marketing or related degree is required; MBA is strongly preferred.

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 8 years of relevant experience leading marketing initiatives, promotions, and events for consumer brands.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; proficiency in English is a strong advantage.
  • Proven ability to engage and align stakeholders across local and regional teams in a matrix environment.
  • Demonstrated success in building and leading high‑performing teams, including people development.
  • Solid knowledge of the motorcycle industry, competitive brands, and products; motorcycle license is desirable but not required.
  • Understanding of independent dealer networks and how to influence performance through marketing.
  • Highly effective interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust, influence outcomes, and drive results.
  • Comfortable working in a fast‑paced environment, managing multiple priorities, budgets, and both short‑ and long‑term objectives.
  • Willingness to travel (Japan and APAC) up to approximately 30%.
