HDFS’ Reno, Nevada office serves as one of the Company's two operations centers. HDFS first established its roots in 1992 in Nevada. It is also home to Eaglemark Savings Bank, the Company’s lending institution, where all loans are funded. Reno employees represent the loan origination and servicing business units including Collections, Funding, Underwriting, Dealer Services, and HDFS’ Cycle Insurance business unit. Job Summary

 

 

 

 

This Operational Accounting Senior Accountant role supports the general accounting, financial reporting, and month-end close processes for Harley-Davidson Financial Services (HDFS) and its bank subsidiary, Eaglemark Savings Bank (ESB).  Such functions include playing an active role on the team to ensure the maintenance of accurate books and records, company projects, systems maintenance, and testing. 

 

 

Job Responsibilities

 

 

  • Lead in the completion of daily and monthly operational accounting areas of responsibility, including the daily management of an array of ESB and HDFS account reconciliations and schedules, monthly detailed analyses and reports as necessary to assist in the month-end close process, and quarterly reporting and analyses for management and HDFS, ESB and Harley-Davidson, Inc. reporting.
  • Performs daily and monthly journal entries, account reconciliations, procedures, and other related tasks.
  • Participates in system projects, including testing of system upgrades and patches where appropriate.
  • Assists the accounting team with maintaining compliance with GAAP and other regulatory agency technical guidance.  This may include research-related projects, various ad-hoc financial reporting requests, and other special projects.
  • Proactively brings identified issues and proposed solutions to the attention of management.
  • Makes judgment, when called upon, regarding the accounting treatment of individual items. 
  • Establishes relationships with other departments and acts as contact for internal/external auditors for areas of responsibility.
  • Protection of information and compliance with the law is paramount. Protecting employee, customer, and corporate information is everyone's responsibility at HDFS and Eaglemark Savings Bank. All employees must follow established safeguards, including policies regarding data protection, segregation of duties, and access to information based solely on business needs. Further, all employees must maintain awareness and understand relevant laws, regulations, internal policies, and procedures and comply with them.

Experience Requirements

 

 

 

 

•    Minimum of 3 years of related experience (2 years of public accounting experience, preferred).
•    High level of professionalism
•    Demonstrated ability to perform duties with strong attention to detail and limited supervision
•    Strong analytical skills
•    Proven ability to take the initiative, multi-task, and achieve results in a fast-paced and changing environment
•    Strong teamwork skills and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of staff
•    Well-developed verbal and written communication skills.  Ability to leverage an understanding of business and system processes to develop accurate financial information and solutions
•    Proficiency in MS Word and Excel

•    CPA preferred
•    General ledger experience
•    Financial reporting experience
•    SAP (accounting software)
•    Experience with financial services companies

The pay range shown represents the national average pay range for this role. Your pay may be more or less than the stated range and is dependent on your geographic location and level of experience.
