This remote role is not tightly linked to a physical location and provides flexibility in where, when and how you accomplish your work.  In this particular position, on-site presence at the PDC may be required every 6-8 weeks as determined by project needs

Job Summary

 

The Senior Electrical Systems Design Engineer will support electrical hardware design and test across the Electrical Systems group.  This role is also the primary electrical engineer for the lighting team.  We are looking for an engineer who will provide creative solutions to challenging vehicle problems.  

Job Responsibilities

    

  • Review and recommend improvements to tier 1 supplier hardware designs through analysis of schematics (functional implementation, component selection), layouts, assembly implementations, DFMEAs, FMEDAs, and PFMEAs
  • Support the electrical systems team as the EMC/EMI expert through all phases of product development including requirements definition, schematic design, layout, and test
  • Define lighting implementations that fit within the existing electrical architecture and meet project requirements
  • Develop the next generation electrical lighting architecture to expand functionality and reduce cost
  • Support the electrical systems team as an expert on H-D’s electrical testing guidelines by assisting with test plan development and test result review
  • Resolve technical issues by applying problem solving techniques and facilitating cross-functional engineering & test support as needed 

Education Specifications

 

  • This position requires a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a similar field.

Experience Requirements

 

The successful candidate will have 5-8 years of related experience. In addition, they will have demonstrated many of the following:

  • Experience with regulatory electrical testing including EMC, EMI, and ESD, and leading troubleshooting to resolve any failures
  • Circuit board development including component selection, circuit analysis, schematic capture, layout, board population, and board test
  • Electrical system/component development including electrical design, software development, and system integration
  • Technical knowledge and design experience of existing vehicle technologies (auto, motorcycle, truck, bus, agriculture, etc.) as well as awareness of future vehicle technologies, with an ability to inform future vehicle designs
  • Creative approach to solving problems and able to own issue resolution from data collection, data analysis, root cause identification, solution set generation, and selection of optimal solution
  • Authoring requirements, developing test-cases, and establishing traceability in a process that supports product development in accordance with a functional safety process, ISO26262 preferred.  
  • Experience with Quality Engineering deliverables, including DFMEA, FMEDA, PFMEA, DVP&R
  • Experience working with teams of internal stakeholders and suppliers to meet aggressive quality and performance objectives

The pay range shown represents the national average pay range for this role. Your pay may be more or less than the stated range and is dependent on your geographic location and level of experience.
