Harley-Davidson Motor Company is headquartered in Milwaukee, WI, where the first H-D factory was built in 1903 - a wooden shed in the backyard of the Davidson's family home. Our onsite and hybrid Milwaukee area employees work out of the Harley-Davidson Product Development Center located just outside of the city - in Wauwatosa. Join our team as a Sr Paralegal (Hybrid).
Job Summary
This position provides paralegal guidance, direction and support to Harley-Davidson’s legal department’s trademark team. This includes (i) reviewing marketing materials; (ii) docketing support; (iii) reviewing licensing submissions; and (iii) researching, investigating, drafting, preparing, organizing, and maintaining legal documents, forms and databases. May help guide the work of less experienced staff and perform certain administrative tasks as needed.
Job Responsibilities
- Update and maintain docket of trademark-related matters, primarily focused on inter partes matters with occasional docketing of portfolio updates
- Review dealer, marketing, and licensing assets for compliance with company and trademark guidelines
- Draft and revise complex legal documents including authorizations, agreements, claims, contracts and memoranda. Prepares written reports and correspondence.
- Conduct preliminary trademark searches
- Prepare written reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Organizes, analyzes, cross-checks and validates information. Checks and edits legal forms and documents for style, grammar, and accuracy.
- Familiarity with Corsearch, WebTMS and Lexis/Nexis CounselLink preferred
- Act as first line of communication for marketing and licensing stakeholders
- Review and approve assigned invoices
- Coordinate legalization of documents
- Provide litigation support as needed such as gathering and organizing evidence. May prepare complex legal filings, applications, and declarations, and help with preparing for legal proceedings.
- Prepare and record customs authorization letters

Education Specifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferred. Paralegal certificate preferred.
Experience Requirements
Required
- Requires at least 5 years of paralegal experience in a law firm or corporate law department.
- Knowledge/experience in one or more relevant substantive areas is a plus (trademarks/IP) and a docketing system (WebTMS preferred)
- Ability to analyze and respond to complex situations with limited guidance. Ability to make judgments with limited guidance.
- Strong attention to detail and strong written and verbal communication skills are required.
- Must have the ability to work well with a variety of stakeholders and cross-functional teams at every level of the company.
- Must maintain company information in strict confidentiality. Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to plan, research, gather facts and follow through. Must be able to effectively prioritize multiple issues. Problem solving, project management, analytical and computer skills are important.
