Job Summary
The Retail Planner Merchandising supports planning of product launches and maintains the portfolio of products for Retail at the Museum. This role supports long-term growth and profitability through planning the portfolios high demand profitable products and ensuring on-time delivery. Working closely with cross-functional teams, the Retail Planner Merchandising helps maintain product data and accuracy, tracks performance, and ensures timely execution of merchandising initiatives that align with financial and brand goals. This role provides operational, analytical support across the full product lifecycle — from concept to in-store execution.
Job Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Support:
- Lead through influence by promoting cooperative behavior and team efforts, effectively working with cross-functional groups.
Guest Experience & Sales Performance:
- Support the execution of Retail strategies to achieve or exceed key performance indicators (KPIs) and revenue goals.
Operations & Inventory Management:
- Lead and assist in preparing purchase orders, tracking deliveries, and vendor follow up on order status and sample requests.
- Initiate and generate business analysis to track selling, identify key trends and maximize opportunities in the assortment in order to achieve continued growth and probability.
- Accountable for maintaining data accuracy in the product portfolio assortment line sheets and product data in merchandising systems.
- Monitor and evaluate product performance to identify best sellers, slow movers, and opportunities for reorders or markdowns.
- Coordinate product samples, photography requests, and asset organization for product launches and marketing campaigns.
- Create merchandising presentations for future product plans and line reviews
- Assist with managing timelines to ensure deliverables are met for product launches and events.
Education Requirements
Experience Requirements
Required:
- 1–3 years’ experience in merchandising, retail buying and planning, business analytics and general administrative management
- Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and POS and Inventory/Demand planning systems, merchandising systems (ERP/PDM a plus).
- Effective communication and follow-up skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Passion for product and analytics.

The pay range shown represents the national average pay range for this role. Your pay may be more or less than the stated range and is dependent on your geographic location and level of experience.
