The Harley-Davidson Motor Company Corporate Headquarters in Milwaukee, WI is the site where the first H-D factory - a wooden shed - was built in 1903 in the backyard of the William C. Davidson family home. Join our team as a Social Media Lead - Remote Eligible.

Job Summary

The Social Media Lead is a highly motivated individual with a passion for cultivating brand communities, experimenting with social trends, and generating best-in-class digital storytelling. This is a role for someone who is comfortable getting their hands dirty to improve existing strategies and processes, while simultaneously building other initiatives from the ground up. Most importantly, the Social Media Lead is vital in driving audience growth, thought leadership, platform expansion and engagement efforts to bring our brand vision to life within the global social ecosystem.

Job Responsibilities

•    Leads development of the brand social strategy and organic social calendar, gathering inputs from stakeholders across the org to gain strategic alignment and integration on priority messages and level of support
•    Accountable for organic content syndication and occasional paid/live publishing needs
•    Deploys platform-specific learning agendas for engagement and growth strategies
•    Develops data-based insights for social initiatives in partnership with Sr. Analyst
•    Oversees and contributes to community engagement and social customer care strategy
•    Executes copywriting and asset selection on ad hoc basis
•    Partners with Creative and Content stakeholders on social content strategy development, maintaining a cohesive brand ethos and connected consumer journey through all social media touchpoints 
•    Key contributor to talent/influencer strategy and brand partnerships, ensuring a unified approach for social messaging and distribution
•    Proactively identifies opportunities in user-generated content and leads digital distribution planning and merchandising of UGC
•    Stays informed of best practices and emerging trends in media, technology, and the ever-changing landscape of social platforms, audiences, and behaviors to optimize our strategies

Education Requirements

Bachelor's Degree Preferred

Experience Requirements



•    5-7+ years related experience in a corporate or agency setting
•    Avid consumer of culturally relevant digital content with a deep understanding of how to navigate major social platforms for large brands (FB/IG, YouTube, TikTok, etc.)
•    Natural collaborator, comfortable organizing and navigating across internal and external groups (e.g., influencer/talent managers, agencies, etc.)
•    High bar for creative excellence with expertise in social creative best practices
•    Ability to understand and use data to inform strategic decisions, including audience insights, performance benchmarks, social listening, etc.
•    Proven ability to prioritize competing responsibilities, meet tight deadlines and produce deliverables that are error-free in a fast-paced work environment.



•    Strong interest in motorcycles and passion for the Harley-Davidson brand
•    Skillful wordsmith with advanced ability to proofread and contribute to social copywriting needs 
•    Experience overseeing a social community engagement program, working with one of the popular SaaS systems (Khoros, Percolate, Sprinklr, Salesforce, etc.) 

•    A Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, advertising, marketing, or a related field is preferred
