Job Summary

The Corporate Media Relations Manager leads the development and implementation of strategies and content to tell the company’s business story through media globally and other external channels. This position has a key role in and accountability for shaping and positioning the company’s reputation and fostering advocacy for the company’s business strategies and point of view.  

 

This position develops content to be shared across internal and external channels, including, but not limited to, executive speeches and message documents. This position provides coaching and counseling to executives and others on communication strategies and practices that advance business objectives, results and reputation.

Job Responsibilities

Community Relations & Social Sustainability Communications: Develops and implements communication strategies and plans to promote and create visibility for the company’s community relations and sustainability activities and helps with the development and creative treatment of the annual sustainability report.

Media Monitoring and Analysis: Tracks and measures the impact of corporate media coverage and establishes processes for media coverage review. Establishes and implements processes to distribute high-impact coverage to dealers and employees.

Media Engagement: Leads the development of strategies, plans and tools to effectively tell the company’s story and manage its reputation in social channels, ensuring alignment of plans with corporate marketing strategies.

Media Relations: Manages and leads the development and implementation of proactive and responsive media relations strategies and plans to tell the company’s story and inform and persuade the media and influencers about the company’s point of view.

Media Training: Manages media training of company spokespersons. Employee oversees the development and implementation of media training curriculum, using outside resources as appropriate. Employee provides one-on-one interview prep and coaching in advance of interviews.

Relationship Management: Establishes and maintains collaborative relationships throughout the organization to facilitate the development and implementation of effective communication plans. Employee must have the ability to build consensus and achieve results through influence. Employee uses effective interpersonal communication skills internally and externally.

Speaker’s Bureau: Leads and manages the development and implementation of plans to tell the company’s story through the identification of strategic external speaking opportunities. vides support for Communication Group members. Employee provides input and collaboration on all aspects of communication planning and implementation. Employee works to increase understanding and utilization of web and social techniques to promote content sharing and leverage company messages.

Education Specifications

A Bachelor’s Degree in Communication, Journalism or a related field is required. Master’s degree a plus.

Experience Requirements

This position requires at least 8 years of progressive communication and media relations experience highlighting the following:

  • Exceptional written (story-telling, business and journalistic style) and verbal communication skills strong editing skills
  • Experience working with business media, including proven record of driving advocacy in traditional and non-traditional media including broadcast, print, social and digital ability to think strategically and creatively
  • Ability to plan, prioritize and manage multiple projects effectively ability to clearly present information through the spoken or written word; read, interpret and articulate complex information
  • Ability to multitask effectively under competing deadlines and priorities
  • Mature problem-solving skills when dealing with conflict and crisis
  • Ability to work with all levels in the organization and effectively present information in positive and negative situations
  • Ability to work in an interactive environment with a high tolerance for ambiguity and change
