The Harley-Davidson Motor Company Corporate Headquarters in Milwaukee, WI is the site where the first H-D factory - a wooden shed - was built in 1903 in the backyard of the William C. Davidson family home. Join our team as a  Communications Coordinator.

Job Summary

This position supports the communication team in fostering advocacy for the company’s reputation and business strategies actively supporting business media relations efforts through the creation of relevant internal and external-facing content. The incumbent supports the execution of thought leadership as it relates to the company’s media strategy. In addition, this position assists in delivering communication events, projects and presentations.   

Job Responsibilities
  • Supports media relations manager in delivering the company’s executive thought leadership and media relations strategies and plans
  • Participates in media relations activities such as research reporters and media outlets, press material creation, pitching, media monitoring and reporting
  • Monitors, directs and prioritizes media inquiries, as well as fulfills media requests as necessary
  • Supports the company’s social media presence on existing and new business social channels
  • Creates and publishes content across all communication business channels
  • Develops and updates executive biographies and images for company website and other media needs
  • Oversees and maintains relationships with media service providers (TrendKite/Cision, DowJones News Service, Global Newswire), media subscriptions and digital access accounts
  • Supports the development of communication plans that support the company’s purpose and business objectives with the goal of creating employee, dealer and/or media awareness, understanding and commitment for our company strategy
  • Actively supports communication department projects and initiatives
  • Coordinates special meetings, media events and other projects initiated by the communications department
  • Supports development and implementation of media plan for the Harley-Davidson Foundation and Harley-Davidson Museum
  • Monitor media and industry landscape and trends to provide daily briefings, identify and recommend media opportunities
Education Specifications
  • A bachelor's Degree in Communication, Marketing, or related field is Preferred.
Experience Requirements
  • Typically requires a minimum of two years of related experience in communication and media
  • Knowledge of AP style writing
  • Proficiency in the use of established and emerging social media channels
  • Ability to quickly grasp and understand the “big picture” and translate information into clear, concise, actionable plans and messages
  • Highly collaborative
  • Strong written and oral communications skills
  • Internet/intranet publishing experience preferred
  • Media event experience preferred
  • Ability to plan, prioritize and manage multiple projects effectively
  • Flexibility to work in an interactive environment with a high tolerance for ambiguity and change
  • Proficient computer skills
