Our Powertrain Operations facility, located on Pilgrim Road in Menomonee Falls, WI, is where the “jewel” of the motorcycle comes to life. Pilgrim Road employees produce engines and transmissions for the final assembly plant in York, Pennsylvania, as well as transmissions, and replacement parts for sale through Harley-Davidson® Genuine Motor Parts and Accessories business. Job Summary

The purpose of this position is to provide on-site Facilities maintenance and operations support, coordination, and oversight services at the Harley-Davidson Motor Company Powertrain Operations (PTO) manufacturing site.  This is a fully on-site role located in Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin.  This role will have responsibility for the active oversight and management of Facilities operational support services by outside vendors and will actively collaborate with PTO manufacturing operations personnel related to systems and equipment operations and maintenance management.  Additionally, this role will be responsible for collaboration on Project Management of Facilities projects, including facilities infrastructure, facilities equipment, cosmetics, and other key construction-related projects as assigned.  

 

We are looking for an individual with a strong technical Facilities maintenance and operations background, specifically with experience in manufacturing facilities and Project or Program Management experience or related skills. This role will be responsible for managing the PTO's annual Facilities operating budget, requiring experience and strengths with dynamic budget management. This role requires an individual who is detail-oriented, organized, self-motivated, and able to work effectively independently and in a team environment with multiple overlapping priorities and deadlines. 

 

This role reports to Central Facilities Operations, with secondary day-to-day accountability to Central Corporate Facilities Project Management and Local PTO Plant Operations.

Job Responsibilities

Facilities Operations Oversight

  • Recurring engagement and oversight of third-party vendor personnel and services.
  • Real-time accountability for contractors on-site, providing regular on-site management support of vendor services, evaluating circumstances, and providing input and guidance on the scope and expectations of work being performed by vendors. 
  • Generation of Work Order requests for various Facilities-related requirements and issues, including those originating from site stakeholders and manufacturing operations representatives.
  • Attain knowledge of all on-site Facilities infrastructure, systems, utilities, and equipment and become the subject matter expert regarding these systems’ operations, locations, areas served, and equipment condition. Respond to and lead any troubleshooting of issues. 
  • Support Audio-Visual system troubleshooting.
  • Support site reviews with the Insurance Provider, Fire Inspector, and other officials. 
  • Coordination and support of annual Power Outage. 
  • Support and coordinate seasonal changeover of site.
  • Prepare, manage and maintain annual operating budget for PTO Facilities; regular communication and collaboration with Central Corporate Facilities, PTO Finance, and PTO leaders on budget performance and reforecasting; and invoice review, validation, and approvals.
  • Participate in regular Safety Observation Tours with PTO Safety and Leadership.
  • Support site layout planning and updates, including CAD drafting support; this includes plant layouts, furniture configurations, exterior site and lot configurations, Facility equipment locations, and infrastructure distribution layouts.
  • Ongoing collaboration with PTO Plant leadership, manufacturing process owners, operations management, logistics management, and production maintenance team.


 

Project Management

  • Collaboration with Central Facilities Projects team on annual budget forecasting and planning of Facilities Capital projects related to infrastructure systems, equipment, building cosmetics, site and general facility construction.
  • On an as-needed basis, support and manage select project works.  Project Management responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following.
  • Ownership of projects from inception through closeout, including expertise with all Project Management responsibilities across all project phases.
  • Effectively manage all administrative aspects of projects, including but not limited to project communications, project meetings, action registers, project schedules, individual project budgets, risk registers, and project close-out documentation. 
  • Become a subject matter expert with Harley-Davidson project management principles, policies, and expectations.
  • Author and administer Requests for Proposal; engage with outside vendors across all construction disciplines; collaborate with internal and external resources to evaluate multiple solution options; and negotiate with vendors to maximize value for Harley-Davidson.
  • Author or collaborate on the writing of business cases to request project funding.
  • Support project close-out processes, helping in validating Facilities Requirements, and Brass-Tagging and Asset Identification updates.

 

General

  • This role will have ongoing collaboration with Central Corporate Harley-Davidson Facilities and Project Management Teams.
  • The individual in this role is expected to become proficient with all Harley-Davidson operational, safety, security, procurement, financial, IT, and other key cross-functional policies and expectations as they relate to Facilities projects and Facilities maintenance and operations. 
  • On an as-needed basis, this role will require to be available during off-hours, weekends, and holidays to oversee critical project work or support plant operations in unique circumstances or urgently respond to Facilities systems or infrastructure breakdowns or incidents, including participating in the PTO Crisis Management Team. 
  • Travel expectations: the individual will be expected to travel on a very limited basis to other Milwaukee locations (less than 5 times per year) and travel to other Manufacturing locations outside of Milwaukee (1-2 times per year). 
  • This individual will be responsible for other general Facilities maintenance and operations and project tasks as assigned. 

Education Requirements

High School Diploma or Equivalent Required

Education Specifications

Preference for individual with Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Facilities Management, Facilities or Architectural Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or Project Management, or a similar field of study. 

Experience Requirements

Required

  • A minimum of 5 years of Facilities or General Construction Project Management and/or Facilities Management experience required.
  • Experience with building engineering and all facets of building operations.
  • Strong preference for experience with critical systems within an industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with financial management, including annual or multi-year accounting and financial tracking, OpEx and CapEx budgeting and forecasting.
  • Experience with management agreements and construction contract language.
  • AutoCAD drafting experience. 

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

  • Certified Plant Engineer (CPE) through the Association of Facilities Engineering, Project Management Professional (PMP), International Facilities Management Association (IFMA), Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) industry certifications preferred; other related building engineering, business or technical training or certifications preferred.
  • Excellent computer and systems knowledge: Strong literacy in Microsoft Office Suite (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project).
  • Fundamental or better understanding of Civil Construction and Infrastructure, Architecture, Building Envelope Systems, Building Controls Systems, and Primary Facilities Infrastructure Systems: HVAC, Electrical Distribution, Plumbing, Fire Suppression, Fire Alarm, Compressed Air, Elevators, and other.
