Job Summary

The Finance Manager Statutory and Consolidations APAC role is one of the most diverse finance roles Harley-Davidson has to offer.  Based in Thailand, and reporting to Global Director of Commercial Finance, the role is responsible for managing the financial affairs of five different legal entities (Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, Hong Kong and India).

The APAC region is one of Harley-Davidson’s most dynamic regions and is expected to deliver substantial growth for Harley-Davidson over the coming years.   The region is made up of our presence in Japan, Australia, New Zealand, China, Thailand, Indonesia, Korea and Singapore.   The presence of a Thai-based manufacturing facility is expected to drive substantial growth for Harley in the region, both in Thailand but also across all Asian markets.  Currently, the region sells in excess of 20,000 motorcycle units. This number is expected to grow substantially as Harley expands its commercial and production capabilities in the region.

To support the accounting, controlling, compliance and business partnering responsibilities associated with the role the manager leads a group of 7 team members based in Thailand, Singapore and India.

The role also partners closely with the ANZ and Japan Finance Manager, and the China and AEM Finance Manager who oversee Managerial Reporting aspects and all budgeting and SG&A finance controlling for the region.

Job Responsibilities

One of the key aspects of the role, distinguishing it from others in the organization, is its role in creating standardized accounting, recording and reconciliation processes that can be rolled out across a variety of legal entities, starting with the ones directly under the remit of this role. This role is expected to partner closely with our global accounting team and tax team who will provide expert guidance and oversight as needed to comply with the requirements of the role.

General roles and responsibilities include:

  • Accounting.  The role is responsible for ensuring that transactions are accounted for correctly, both under US GAAP and local gap (Using the non-leading ledger in SAP).  This extends across AP, AR, and the General Ledger and associated areas.  This role is responsible for ensuring the monthly financial close is delivered in line with Harley-Davidson’s timeline and requirements.
  • Compliance.  This role is responsible for ensuring compliance with Harley-Davidson financial policies but also with local statutory filings, including tax, partnering as needed with third parties to ensure compliance in these areas.
  • Controls. This role is responsible for ensuring that appropriate controls are in place, that relevant Harley-Davidson controlling frameworks are applied, that risks are identified and subsequently remedied.

The dynamic nature of the region and the diverse scope of the role offers plenty of opportunity for continued review and alignment of processes.  As such the expectation is that the successful candidate will continue to identify areas for process simplifications and to execute these in partnership with others.
