Job Summary

Harley-Davidson is on a mission to the lead the electrification of the Motorcycle Industry and excited about adding top Engineering talent to our Product Development Center with focus on development and production launch of new and exciting vehicles.  We are looking for an Electrical Component Development – Sr. Design Engineer to join an experienced team developing the next generation electrical systems for H-D’s future portfolio of motorcycles.

Job Responsibilities

In this position you will:

  • Develop next-generation electrical component requirements through collaboration with key stakeholders, product benchmarking, and input from industry standards.
  • Lead the development of designs through Tier I component partners and approve designs for production.
  • Develop electrical systems and components to meet appropriate levels of safety in accordance with ISO26262.
  • Verify electrical vehicle systems exceed performance requirements and H-D standards.
  • When applicable, develop software verification plans to ensure features are intuitive and robust at vehicle launch.
  • Approve supplier validation campaigns and test results.
  • Resolve technical issues by applying problem-solving techniques and facilitating cross-functional support from the Engineering and Test Organizations.
  • Support vehicle-level system integration activities, pre-production vehicle builds, and vehicle launch builds.

Education Specifications

This position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical degree.  Advanced degree appreciated.

Experience Requirements

The successful candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of relevant design engineering experience in a related field.  In addition, they will have demonstrated the following:

  • Electrical System Design and Vehicle Integration Experience.
  • Electrical Hardware Design Experience (Displays, Controls, CAN Bus).
  • Embedded Software Testing Experience.
  • Experience developing and authoring requirements.
  • Experience developing artifacts that support product development in accordance with ISO26262, including Item Definitions, HARAs, and Functional Safety Requirements.
  • Experience with Quality Engineering deliverables, including DFMEAs and Design Validation Plans and Reports.
  • Ability to communicate technical subjects in a clear, concise manner to multiple levels of the organization.
  • Success in directly or indirectly leading a team or supplier to meet aggressive quality, cost, timing, and performance objectives.
  • Proven experience with project management tools and principles.
  • Ability to work with diverse global teams both internally and with external suppliers.
