Job Summary

This Senior Systems Engineer – Enhanced Chassis Control Performance role is focused on supporting the development of vehicle level performance calibrations for advanced electronic brake & chassis controls.  The chassis controls team integrates with other internal teams and our strategic suppliers to conceptualize, develop, test, and bring to market exciting and innovative performance and safety features for our Customers.  As part of this team, the Senior Systems Engineer will provide high-quality solutions to the challenges of the vehicle development process while adhering to performance objectives, project development timelines, and cost targets. 

Job Responsibilities

As part of the Brake Systems team, you would be responsible for:  

  • Selection and verification of application specific hardware to support vehicle development
  • Development of Analysis & Reporting Tools for vehicle development data
  • Research/Sourcing/Application of Data Acquisition tools
  • Development, organization, and tracking of DVP&R activities
  • Creations and maintenance of Vehicle Complexity Matrices
  • Assist in the development and documentation of dynamic vehicle test methods and performance specifications
  • Execute motorcycle performance evaluations and development

Education Specifications

  • This position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related technical degree.

Experience Requirements

The successful candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience. In addition, they will have demonstrated the following:

  • Ability to develop analysis tools and user interfaces using Matlab, LabView, DIAdem, etc.
  • High-level understanding of foundation brake systems, ABS, and controlled brake functions a plus
  • High-level understanding of powertrain torque management systems such as Traction Control, Drag-Torque Slip Control, and regenerative braking
  • Experience in vehicle control system design, integration, or calibration 
  • Experience in dynamic vehicle development and testing (familiarity with CAN data and acquisition tools – Vector CANalyzer, ATI Vision, ETAS INCA, etc.)
  • Application of innovative thinking and creative problem solving
  • Strong understanding of fundamental physics, mechanics, and dynamics at the component, system, and vehicle level 
  • Ability to communicate through face-to-face discussions, drafting of technical documents, or via drawings and models
  • Motorcycle riding experience required (ability to obtain motorcycle endorsement)
