The Harley-Davidson Motor Company Product Development Center (PDC) located in Wauwatosa, WI is home to the mantra – You dream it. We build it. Join our team as a Rider/Vehicle Interface, Steering & Suspension (RVISS) Associate Mechanical Engineer.
Job Summary
The Associate Mechanical Design Engineer will be responsible for designing, planning, organizing and executing engineering projects while ensuring the projects meet the quality and timing expectations of all stakeholders. The incumbent will deliver optimal designs while adhering to project targets, performance objectives, high quality, and cost minimization. There will be extensive interaction with Operational Excellence (OE), Parts and Accessories (P&A) categories, and Manufacturing to achieve results.

- This position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical Degree.
Experience Requirements
- No minimum required years of experience in industry. Related co-op or intern experience is preferred.
- Motorcycle rider or desire to learn is appreciated.
- Desired previous design experience in related systems/components and manufacturing processes.
- Understanding of fundamental physics and usage of tools to improve and optimize designs (i.e. 3D CAD, engineering calculations, bolted joint analysis, FE analysis/simulation, GD&T, tolerance stack-up analysis).
- Experience with risk mitigation APQP processes, including DFMEA, DVP&R, PFMEA and Control Plans is a plus.
- Experience or demonstrated interest in Human Factors Engineering or related subjects.
- Comfort in managing functional trade-offs between components and improving designs through clear understanding of operating envelopes, load paths, manufacturing processes, assembly processes, material properties, bolted joint analysis, datum schemes, and tolerancing.
- Success in solving challenging technical problems with innovative solutions in a team environment.
- Ability to communicate technical subjects in a clear, concise manner to multiple levels of the organization.
- Success in directly or indirectly leading a team to meet aggressive quality, cost, timing, and performance objectives.
- Experience with project management tools and principles.
