The Harley-Davidson Motor Company Product Development Center (PDC) located in Wauwatosa, WI is home to the mantra – You dream it. We build it. Join our team as a  Manager Engineering.

Job Summary

The Manager Engineering works with colleagues in product development to deliver designs and specifications for global motorcycle products that satisfy customers while balancing stakeholder interests. This role provides technical leadership and expertise to teams of engineers and designers focused on motorcycle design, development, integration, and continuous improvement. In addition, the Platform Technical Manager will be responsible for resource forecasting and allocation, budgeting, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and managing the performance of others.

Job Responsibilities

  • Manages Softail and global small-displacement motorcycle platform engineering.
  • Manages all work planning activities to drive motorcycle platform engineering excellence.
  • Acts as continuous improvement mentor/coach, driving best practice sharing within motorcycle platform.
  • Manages motorcycle integration design and engineering support, contracts systems engineering support, and leads engineering support executed by outside service providers and overseas partners.
  • Guides and coaches team members through product design and development methodology.
  • Manages motorcycle platform continuous improvement projects across teams.
  • Delegates responsibilities and empowers team members to make decisions, when appropriate.
  • 25-50% travel and frequent after-hours calls to effectively manage overseas partners.
  • Manages performance of direct reports.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's Degree Required

Education Specifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related technical field is Required. Master’s Degree is Preferred (technical or MBA).

Experience Requirements

Required

  • Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience.
  • Deep and broad knowledge of concepts, methods, and terminology in product design and vehicle integration.
  • Proven track record managing high-functioning teams in product design environments.
  • Demonstrated skill and experience in problem-solving (root cause analysis).
  • Expertise in project management.
  • Demonstrated general understanding of computer-aided design (CAD) tools.
  • Substantial hands-on experience delivering high-value measurable results and successful launch for complex projects.
  • Broad expertise in engineering calculations and analysis, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, and datum structure development.
  • Experience in global product development and leading remote teams.
