Job Summary
This position leads the team responsible for managing all aspects of global packaging for inbound components required within the production of motorcycles, finished motorcycle delivery to worldwide dealers, and global distribution of service parts and accessories. The Packaging Manager is the subject matter expert for packaging design and applications within manufacturing operations and related supply chains. This position oversees the new product development and implementation of packaging solutions for procurement, processing, and shipment of new model components, commodities, and vehicles for all global manufacturing facilities. This position is responsible for the establishment, monitoring, and communication of Packaging budgets, key metrics, resource requirements, and project/milestone status to cross-functional stakeholders and business leaders.
Job Responsibilities
- Directly manages the Harley-Davidson Packaging team and is accountable for team performance and results.
- Leads team to institute packaging for consumer use (Part and Accessories), factory use (Domestic and International), and finished goods (Motorcycles).
- Develops, sets, and maintains the global packaging strategy for Harley-Davidson.
- Provides direction to the Packaging team by assigning and prioritizing projects, tracking key metrics, and assigning corrective actions as required.
- Fosters and facilitates personal and professional development of the Packaging team members
- Balances resources to successfully deliver packaging designs and technical development of packaging solutions for new and existing products throughout Harley-Davidson.
- Addresses resource and operational challenges to support corporate and departmental Packaging plans and priorities.
- Ensures packaging designs support attainment of key manufacturing metrics – Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, People, and Sustainability.
- Manages budget, spend timing and spend performance of departmental, continuing operations, reliability, and new product budgets.
- Manages packaging service provider relationships with Harley-Davidson.
- Identifies and solves technical and operational issues related to Packaging while recognizing, understanding, and addressing the broader impact to the organization.
- Identifies areas of opportunity requiring benchmarking and development of solutions to improve Packaging deliverables and performance. Initiates action to resolve.
- Leads the team to ensure Packaging data is accurate, complete and maintained.

Experience Requirements
This position typically requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience. In addition, the successful candidate will have demonstrated the following:
- Demonstrated Packaging expertise within manufacturing operations and new product development.
- Extensive knowledge of distribution dynamics across supply chains to create requirements for part delivery.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and develop a Packaging department and department staff members to successfully support business goals and plans.
- Ability to effectively communicate packaging metrics, business risks, and strategies to internal and external business leaders.
- Proven track record of judgement in technical product and process development to make and facilitate decisions when information was incomplete or ambiguous.
- Experience in leading others with demonstrated ability to transform a team of diverse resources into a high performing, effective team.
- Travel required up to 25%.
Preferred
- Motorcycle riding experience and knowledge of Harley-Davidson motorcycles, parts and accessories.

The pay range shown represents the national average pay range for this role. Your pay may be more or less than the stated range and is dependent on your geographic location and level of experience.
