Job Summary

 

The Engineering Manager works with colleagues in Product Development to deliver designs and specifications for products that satisfy customers while balancing stakeholder interests. The Engineering Manager provides technical leadership and expertise to a team of engineers focused on system design and development and system issue resolution. In addition, the Engineering Manager will be responsible for resource forecasting and allocation, budgeting, collaborating with Platform Teams, and managing the performance others.

Job Responsibilities

 

  • Assemble and lead the EV Battery Pack team to integrate modular and scalable EV battery components and systems from high-confidence proven designs in conjunction with Advanced development teams.
  • Set direction for direct reports by making appropriate Electrical, Software, and Mechanical design tradeoffs during vehicle integration of EV components.
  • Utilize individual and group design reviews in development of component specifications to optimize vehicle performance, quality, DFM/DFA, and cost
  • Build the culture: Help establish a consistent mindset that’s relentlessly focused on the highest value work. Lead and reinforce application of best practices to streamline the product development process and deliver world-class engineering to efficiently lead the industry.
  • Identify and set direction for continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Leverage H-D’s extensive product development assets including test labs, proving grounds and expert product development capabilities to deliver best-in-class performance, usability and quality. 

Education Specifications

 

  • This position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Software Engineering.  Advanced degree appreciated.

Experience Requirements

 

  • Design and development of EV Battery Pack components and systems.
  • Deep understanding of EV battery chemistry, electronical and mechanical integration, underlying physics, functions and how they can be optimized to drive customer-valued differentiation and business value.
  • Experience designing and developing systems/components utilizing multiple manufacturing processes.
  • Success in solving challenging technical problems in a team environment.
  • Ability to communicate technical subjects in a clear, concise manner to multiple levels of the organization.  
  • Success in directly or indirectly leading a team to meet aggressive quality, cost, timing, and performance objectives.
