Job Summary

Join our team as an Electrical Systems Associate Design Engineer – Rider Interface.  This position will be responsible for overall ownership of the motorcycle electrical system relating to design functions at the vehicle level, acting as the owner of their design from concept and evaluation to production launch and in-field quality control. Demonstrate understanding of specific components and vehicle system level interactions while possessing technical skills in electronic modules, software and overall system development and performance.  Ensure release of a great motorcycle and riding experience.  This specific role will be focused on Rider Interface systems including delivery of motorcycle hand controls, instrumentation and infotainment.

Job Responsibilities

•    Deliver robust, optimized designs for vehicle functions and systems while adhering to project targets, performance objectives, high quality, and cost minimization.
•    Author requirements for vehicle functions and system architecture with focus on ISO26262 compliance.  Generate plans for development and feature maturity.  Partner with a cross-functional team and suppliers to meet program and build milestones.  Identify risks and propose mitigations.
•    Verify component & system performance to H-D standards, approve supplier validation, and work with test and verification entities to ensure EE system meets or exceeds targets.
•    Resolve technical issues by applying problem solving techniques and facilitating cross-functional engineering & test support as needed 
•    Perform Design Failure Modes & Effects Analysis (DFMEAs), Design Verification Plan & Reports (DVP&Rs), analyze test results and bring closure to test findings.
•    Support pre-production and launch build events and participate in product test & evaluations.

  • This position requires a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical Degree.  

Experience Requirements

No minimum required years of experience in industry.  Related co-op or intern experience is preferred. 
•    Strong interest in motorcycle engineering and design.
•    Creative approach to solving problems and able to own issue resolution from data collection, data analysis, root cause identification, solution set generation, and selection of optimal solution.
•    Ability to communicate technical subjects in a clear, concise manner to multiple levels of the organization.
•    Success using project management tools and principles to deliver on-time and within budget.
•    Ability to work with diverse global teams both internally and externally (suppliers).
•    Knowledge of whole-vehicle systems with detailed electrical system/component choice, software design, electrical design & integration experience.  Ability to work beyond electrical engineering and apply basic electro-mechanical engineering skills/experience.
•    Direct motorcycle or vehicle engineering knowledge or projects (e.g. automotive, power sports, construction, agriculture, aerospace, marine).
