Join our team as the Director Advanced EV Systems Engineering. As the top leader of the LiveWire Labs teams, you will provide vision and guidance to the experienced cross-functional organization delivering the innovation, design and development underpinning H-D’s entire future EV portfolio.

 

Key Responsibilities

Lead a team of product development leaders and experts, leveraging H-D’s extensive product development assets to create industry-leading modular, scalable EV systems with best-in-class performance, usability, quality and cost. Oversee the work of cross functional battery engineering and power electronics engineering teams, EV systems and software architect as well as multiple support resources (program management, advanced manufacturing, purchasing).

 

Work closely with the vehicle development teams to optimize designs, the advanced manufacturing team to develop manufacturing processes and equipment, and collaboratively iterate system and component designs, software and processes accordingly. Balance the needs of short-term project goals with the longer-term architectural plan to provide value for the next generation of EVs.

 

Build relationships with strategic suppliers, technical partners, internal stakeholders and universities to influence their development focus and help ensure H-D's early access to high-impact technologies and designs across the electric motorcycle portfolio.

Education Required:

This position requires a bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical or software engineering or related technical degree. Advanced degree preferred (technical or MBA).

 

Ideal Experience & Capabilities:

  • Strong leadership and teambuilding capabilities. Broad skills and experience in empowering talented teams and inspiring creativity while optimizing the use of standard processes, tools and techniques
  • Track record of developing and delivering a wide variety of EV system designs to production
  • Knowledge of both agile and conventional product design processes, and how to balance the two to achieve both efficiency and safety.
  • Strong understanding of the underlying physics and tools to optimize, design, verify and validate motorcycle, power sports or automotive EV systems, including associated software and controls
  • Extensive experience with varied manufacturing and assembly processes in EV system production
  • Demonstrated experience leading or strongly influencing cross-functional teams to achieve desired results
  • Project management capabilities resulting in successful achievement of difficult project objectives including quality, cost and performance within tight timelines
  • Industry publications or other recognition is valued (conference or journal publications, industry group leadership roles, speaking engagements, etc.)
