This position will be responsible for the following:

•Deliver emission compliance through successful certification per regulations for all world markets

•Deliver world class vehicle drivability levels through calibration and vehicle system design consultation & integration

•Lead new market entry, LCP, and PAC emission projects. Document processes to ensure year over year compliance.

•Release calibrations on time per M9 and build requirements.

•Support the development of efficient engine mapping processes (CO2, VVT, emissions optimization).

•Support Motorcycle Regulatory Compliance (MRC) with technical arguments, using knowledge and data to make improvements to H-D’s standing in regulatory forums.

•APG – PDC emissions lab support (data management, emissions test equipment specifications, procedure development).

•Advanced NVH and Performance Development system evaluations.

•Assisting in the development and implementation of system strategies and technology roadmaps across the H-D vehicle portfolio, including modularity/complexity strategies that support the cross-functional needs of the business.

•Develop and document best practices using standardized processes and tools:

•Processes and guidelines for calibration.

•Processes and tool development to support PT engine development, PT emissions development, homologation and certification to deliver significant lead time reduction.

•Benchmarking; design & simulation guidelines; DFMEA & DVP&R templates; drawing templates; critical path planning templates and general knowledge management

•Create and manage a "virtual shelf" of proven technologies, components and systems that support the long-range system strategies and ensure world class product quality, cost and ability to efficiently execute

•Lead the engagement with new product, current product and PAC projects as expert consultants, providing key information, guidance, support and approval throughout predevelopment and project execution to ensure world class designs

•Will create and lead projects that are specifically directed at improving vehicle quality in an effort to meet or exceed the platform quality targets

•Keeps well informed on state-of-the-art techniques and important new developments in technical fields relative to current or planned projects. Also remains current with new project management techniques

•Actively shares knowledge and experience gained on projects to organization through appropriate avenues.
New Product Development

•Creates and maintains project plans, including schedules, cost targets, budgets and specifications.

•Responsible for configuration management of assigned platform project

Education Required
This position requires a BS in Mechanical Engineering.

Experience Required
Successful candidates will have a minimum of 8 years relevant experience. In addition, they will have demonstrated the following:

Analysis of test results to provide decision ready information

•Has checked test data for quality and accuracy (spike detection, drop outs, over scaling, etc). Can output data from a variety of system formats into basic charts & plots.

Data acquisition systems and techniques

• Demonstrates understanding of data acquisition systems and techniques through successful execution of testing projects. Can develop basic testing strategies for powertrain and/or vehicle systems. Track record of consistently delivering quality decision ready data that meets customer expectations.

Emissions testing and development

•Working knowledge of Horiba emissions test equipment and emissions data analysis tools. Able to lead emissions development projects independently and has proven track record of success in delivering emissions compliant solutions. Can evaluate drivability concerns and diagnose potential causes and determine resolution of concern.

Engine Calibration

•Understands fuel and spark delivery impact to performance and emissions tradeoffs. Can develop basic engine control strategies for functional control of powertrain and vehicle systems. Track record of consistently delivering powertrain calibrations that meet customer expectations. Has working knowledge of calibration release process in PDG.

Regulatory & Homologation Test Coordination

• Facilitated Regulatory and Homologation testing. Demonstrates basic understanding of test and compliance requirements.

Advanced emissions techniques

•Basic understanding of engine response surface mapping processes and DOEs.

Vehicle Maintenance and Repair Techniques and Equipment

•Familiar with Digital Technician, Hog Box, and calibrated measurement equipment.
