We are currently looking for an Associate Engineer Test – this position reports to the Electrical Lab Lead, Product Development Center, Wauwatosa, WI and is an integral part of the Product Development team at Harley-Davidson. The Engineer will be responsible for subsystem and vehicle measurements and data acquisition in support of product and systems engineering, advanced innovation, long term technology development, and quality initiatives within Product Development Engineering that enables Harley-Davidson Motor Company to support the world-wide availability of our products.

Key Deliverables

This Engineering position will be held accountable for delivering the following:

• Execute technical meaningful tests on motorcycles and their components

• Compile, analyze and report test results to engineering in a timely manner

• Develop new techniques, develop current tests, improve processes and reduce product development time

• Collaborate with engineers, technical specialists, mechanics and riders, track test processes and report progress to engineering.

Education Required
This position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or other related technical degree or PE license.

Experience Required
Analysis of Test Results to Provide Decision Ready Information

• Has developed tools to efficiently reduce & summarize test data in charts, plots, and diagrams for purposes of design analysis. Has analyzed test data in both time and frequency domain. Regularly provides error bounds, statistical analysis, and/or annotation to test results.

Data Acquisition Systems and Techniques

• Demonstrates understanding of data acquisition systems and techniques through successful execution of testing projects. Can develop basic testing strategies for electric motors and/or vehicle systems. Track record of consistently delivering quality decision ready data that meets customer expectations.

Electrical Systems Test Development and Analysis

• Has made laboratory measurements of current, voltage and complex waveforms. Experienced in building breadboards, test fixtures or special test set-ups for electrical systems to meet stakeholder needs. Knowledge of high voltage systems including AC motors, lithium ion batteries, battery management systems and power inverters.

Electrical test procedure development

• Has applied existing tools (digital storage scope, CANalyzer or custom simulators) and test methods to create and verify electrical test procedures for electrical performance and functional validation.

Reliability Analyses

• Applies statistical analysis in daily work. Have participated in root cause analysis (e.g. Cause Map, Fishbone, etc.)

Test Instrumentation

• Has independently and successfully applied instrumentation tools and techniques during project execution. Has provided high quality test data through detailed understanding of transducer designs, calibration, limitations, and their appropriate usage.
