Job Summary
The Product Planning Manager is responsible for leading a long term strategy of customer-led products, features and technology deliverables for the H-D brand in anticipation of worldwide customer and market needs.

This includes motorcycle and HDMC feature cadence, customer progression, technical and innovation roadmaps, pricing, positioning, obsolescence, regulatory and market representation. In this role, you will also be responsible for leading the strategic integration of motorcycle product content with Parts & Accessories and General Merchandise to ensure holistic customer experiences.

We will look for you to actively pursue long-term strategic product gaps and technology opportunities for brand and market potential and integrate HDMC Lifecycle Plan with developing marketplace and technology trends, including alternate propulsion solutions and motorcycle platform positioning & innovations.

Your focus will be to develop market opportunity assessments, which include definition of opportunity, target market, product positioning, product attributes, sales & cost targets and high levels financials. The scope of these strategic products is intended to go beyond traditional vehicle development projects and focus on new technology and innovative products. These product strategies must be tailored in such a manner that fit within available internal resources and deliver appropriate financial return to the overall organization.

In addition to defining these strategies and plans, soliciting, gaining and maintaining senior leadership’s endorsement of them, it is expected that this position will work in a highly collaborative manner with the appropriate operational elements within HDMC to ensure the effective and timely execution of these product strategies.

Essential to the development of these initiatives is a thorough understanding of current market conditions, the insight to predict how these conditions may change in the future, and the ability to adapt them to take full advantage of regional market variations. The characteristics of understanding, insight and ability to adapt are also critical elements in working with other members of the Motorcycle Product Planning (MPP) team and the Product Development community at large in integrating these initiatives into HDMC’s overall Product Portfolio.

You will also develop Voice of the Customer (VOC) insight and trends and conduct detailed global market assessments by analyzing and interpreting data to formulate and track current/future marketplace trends. You will participate in planning, acquiring, managing, analyzing and utilizing information related to the quality of customer led global product planning such as competitive product information, customer segment information, internal expertise, external bench-marking, supplier capabilities, research, customer and dealer focus groups and studies and correlations to brand strategies. Seeks to understand the competitive motorcycle landscape and adjacent product groupings in order to recommend business development opportunities.

Education Required
Requires a Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field. An advanced degree is preferred.

Experience Required

•A minimum of eight (8) years of experience in a Sales, Engineering or Marketing environment, with deep understanding of regional market conditions.

•Must have experience in product development and execution.

•Must have the ability to work collaboratively with all levels of the Organization. Will be required to provide input on a technical solution that meets the criteria and influence others to approve and support the direction.

•This position requires excellent skills in Leadership, Communication, Collaboration and the execution of new initiatives.

•Must have a leadership style that encourages collaboration, cooperation and teamwork and have the ability to successfully challenge and motivate others.

•20%+ domestic and international travel required.
